Artists Describing Their Art:

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style. Helen Kaminsky - Art has always been a passion for me but due to personal circumstances I opted to leave school at 17 and pursue a travel career, hoping to return to my vocation as an artist a little later in life. This took another 40 years and now, I feel that I have at last fulfilled my dream of becoming a self-taught, professional artist. My work has evolved through various mixed media techniques, from photo transfer, mixed water media, collage and encaustic art (an ancient form of painting with pigmented wax). I love the challenges and excitement of experimenting with different mediums, changing the style to suit the subject and the effects that I want to create. I have developed my style to interact with the viewer. I like to keep a sense of mystery within my paintings, for the interpretation to change with each viewer's own imagination. In this way the painting will always be a source of creative visualisation, possibly changing over time within the viewer's own thought process. My latest award was as a finalist in the Aesthetica Creative Works Competition and my artwork Moon Goddess appears in their 2009 Annual. ...

Maha Abu Ghoush - In my work I always emphasize on the color as a significant and unifying element. It follows mainly two directions: In the first, I move into unfettered areas of fervent intensity, characterized by its expressionistic vigor through the application of thick coats of paints of various material (gouache, fingerpaint, acrylic, and oil colors) on highly textured surfaces, which I then rework partially or completely with oil pastel, producing a remarkable effect and displaying the variations of color, form, line, and movement. In the second, which involves drawings using watercolors, pastel and pen, I create a mystical, fanciful and gothic world of trees and foliage. A world that's at once eerie and alluring. A world that exists only in one's imagination....

Jennifer Vranes - Words like brilliant and vibrant are often used to describe the contemporary paintings of Jennifer Vranes. With her extreme texture, and colors just brighter than reality, Vranes' paintings capture an intense energy that is both positive and uplifting. An extensive world traveler, Vranes gets her inspiration from places she has seen from all over the world. Through her art, she transports the viewer to distant lands where poppies grow wildly in breathtaking meadows; where fragrant Lavender is farmed in lush rows in France; or where aspens quake in the Rocky Mountains. Vranes finds the secret utopias that often go unnoticed and she captures it on canvas for the whole world to stop and take notice. Her passion to capture the dazzling beauty of nature stems from having grown up in a small country town in Southern Oregon. Perhaps it is her upbringing that inspires her subject matter which consistently portrays large, open spaces and white houses--much like the house she grew up in. Vranes continued her education at Brigham Young University , graduating in April 1998 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree. It was after her graduation that she met and married Matthew Vranes, a native of San Francisco. ...

Dora Martinez - The fusion between imagination and technology summarizes the message in my work. Nature, city life and fashion are the sources of inspiration, The goal is to turn the simple details into new visual dimensions of light and color and to discover the infinite possibilities within an image. Through the years I accumulated a vast collection of photographs taken during my trips to Asia, Europe, North America and Central America. In 2002 the discovery process was initiated. Using the computer as the medium, I began experimenting with Adobe Photoshop, taking images to the extreme through digital manipulation. As for the present, I continue to find life and nature's uncontainable movement to be the creative platform in all my work. ...

Tamar Sorkin - I have always worked from organic subjects- plants, animals, or the human body, but usually I arrive at an abstract, "zoomorphic" description, that enables me a wider perspective. ...

Lohith Kesarmadhu - About Me For me art was a childhood experience, in time during a busy schedule in the advertising empire as it was in college of Management too, creativity had become an essence and a passion. This passion for art made me live life twice. College and work had made me immensely busy even to think of doing any other work. But life showed me to adopt art seriously after a very tragic accident. A spinal cord injury which made me immobile for years. Things still didn't change a lot since then. Being a quadriplegic it was that time I saw life in its own way in which I had missed out on a lot of simple thing's as we all do. Still, hope made me hold the brush and the journey began through the canvas of life once again. For at that time every simple moment had become a mere measure of enhancement. For me Life, loneliness and transcendence had actually become subject's of my painting's. As we all know a human being is neither perfect like God, nor ignorant like an animal. Humans, who are caught in this boundary of the two extremes, exist incompletely. ...

Christie Martinez - We are all just visitors to this life, and I find brevity of that beautiful. Sometimes we are told what something means, but sometimes we discover it on our own. The meaning then, comes from within, and comes out creatively. These are my meanings, my paintings. The way a tree can look sad or joyful. The way the wind can pierce your body or invigorate your soul. My art carries the meanings I have discovered and try to convey with color, line, texture and subject matter. With every ordinary thing bringing something to a moment it's my joy to discover it and create a piece of art that encompasses the brief moment that inspired me. Having never stepped away from your ordinary life, there is no reason to discover it. I like to leave behind pieces of myself, get lost and discover new meaning for myself and I think this is where my inspiration and passion for Art comes from. ...

Mark Renaud - Title..."Hope in Desperation" This unique tree represents the artist's reflections on his own life by using nature and his lifelong fasination with tress in an analogy towards the similarities between the human spirit and that of the spirit found around us in nature. Special attention was given in selecting the stone mount for the tree. The artist felt that the mount must define a weather-torn, barren, non-fertile and isolated location to parallel the feelings he was experiencing in his surrounding at the time he concieved this sculpture. (this stone has been dated at being 450 million years old by some of the fossils found embedded in it) Choosing to work with copper as the base, limbs and leaves was mainly due to the metaphysical and physical properties of copper as being a conductor of energy. The artist believes that just as copper is a conductor of energy so are we as human beings. The leadcoating on the bas and limbs of the tree is a protective shell, protecting the tree from the elements and environment much the same as we as human beings wear masks create walls for protect from our environment, to protect our inner-...

Lynda Lehmann - I have participated in numerous juried shows and had solo shows of my paintings. Ive sold my photography and digital art online, in galleries and other real-time venues, although I am currently marketing my work primarily online. My stock art sells well and Ive sold at least 2400 images in that venue. Life events had steered me away from painting but I am jumping back into that part of my process and hope to have new paintings online within the next few months. OTHER STUFF My painting Bibliophiles Dream has been featured on the cover of the Insights Journal of Austin Seminary. My paining Damariscotta Dream has been used for the cover of Chuck Sweetmans poetry chapbook published by Dream Horse Press. Lisa Reinke - Recognize yourself, someone, everyone and no one in my faces - celebrate color in the shape of a nose, the curve of the ears, the mask of the eyes, and the lines of the lips and hair. Most of all remember the humanity in humanity. The human face inspires me. As humans, we respond to its image beyond all others. For all its familiarity, we rarely pause to consider the face as a visual form, something more than the recognition of a friend or an interaction with a stranger. I paint the face in ways to cause the viewer to reconsider its splendor and renew faith in all things human. Colors and sunlight playing across faces remind me of our connection to the universe and symbolize eternal and fleeting moments simultaneously. I love how we recognize and explore human faces for clues to identity and personality. I am happy to be creating my work and hope that my art inspires you to look around and see the world as a vibrant and exciting place where the most amazing patterns are on display all the time. Lisa Reinke ...
