Artists Describing Their Art:

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style. Ellen Spencer - ARTIST'S STATEMENT Ellen Spencer is a well known artist and longtime environmental activist. Her work reflects her passion in the celebration of life, women's/children's health and its connection to our environment. Ellen is originally from the Boston area, but has been residing in the San Francisco bay area for the past ten years. She currently has her studio in Oakland, California. She has spent many years successfully exhibiting and selling her works throughout the United States and has received numerous awards. Her work has been hailed as, i?1/2exuberant and excitingi?1/2 by New York's Art Speak magazine. She is currently represented by 57th Street Gallery in Oakland, CA, ArtWorks in San Francisco, Artist Alley Gallery in San Francisco, Agora Gallery in New York and Marziart International Gallery in Hamburg, Germany. As an artist and an activist, my work represents the strength and unity inherent in the human spirit. These paintings are part of several different series about women, health and the environment. They celebrate what is possible when people come together as one. Each painting has a feeling of its own and is done in different mediums. The colors are vivid and rich reflecting the myriad ...

Debbi Chan - I am going to do an updated artist's statement. But until I submit it you have a short temporary one. As an artist I an fullfilled and contend. But at the same time I seek more , absorb more, and enjoy more. Art fills and fullfills me..I am always being an artist. My eyes see art always. This is not a hobby that I partake of when time suits. Art feeds me. Art consoles me. And being prolific it also takes my time. And for this I am thankful that i listened to my inner self. I am thankful for a following that grows by the minute. I enjoy you enjoying my portfolio. I also have come to realize that the coined phrase "starving artist" is a reality for some of us. But if you take another quote, my own , you will see that starving and rich pertain to material $. because of you the viewers , and because art is my life and my passion I can truly say that I AM RICH.. RICH WITH NO MONEY... and I can also say with truth that I am happy. I chose the path that allowed this rich life. There will continue ...

Chris Jehn - I am primarily a self taught artist and have always felt creative. I worked my way through college by teaching crafts at an arts and crafts store, everything from embroidery and macrame to tole painting and pottery. I have taken numerous workshops from other practicing artists. Being with a group of other artists creates a synergy that inspires me. I now primarily work with acrylics and collage. I especially love intense color, and have made a study of color composition. One of the main reasons I live in Colorado is because almost everywhere you look there is something wonderful, and IaEURtmm compelled to try to paint what I see and feel. ...

Dave Martsolf - Dave Martsolf I have a hand-drawing personal style that I love, but also use photorealistic collage style for some surreal work. In addition, I continue to enjoy explorations in every direction. My surreal visionary style is conceived in the bowels of endless empty space. Worlds come out of nowhere to define and fill empty space with form and reflected light. I use posed photographs with specific viewpoints that join seamlessly with other images to develop a hallucinogenic, some say gut-wrenching realistic space where mind-bending visions rule. My personal drawing style is in its simplest essence the line the drawn line and what it represented as the delineation of a form, a space, almost the way a topographical line feels out the form of a hill, or the way a blind man feels out the tender forms of his or her lover. That line is also the signature of the vibration of life and lifes emotions, twisted by the influence of others, fighting for a day in the sun, learning the way of calm, the mastery of the surf of life and the swell of love and anger. Brownian motion, cosmic ray decay, elemental particles, the paths of ...

Guy Octaaf Moreaux - "A painter is a collector, he makes his own collection" "Un peintre es un collectioneur, il fait sa propre collection" "Un pintor es un coleccionista, hace su propria coleccion" Pablo Picasso. Having lived in North and South America and in northern and southern Europe, I picked up bits of cultures all over. During my stay in California I first came into contact with asian art and philosophy which would leave a lasting mark on me. The influence from Asia was reinforced in Argentina where I took classes of japanese painting with Cristina Ishikawa. Except for these classes and some drawing classes I am an autodidact. The most gratifying moments in painting are those when all of a sudden you get a kick out of an "accident", something not planned which fits the painting just perfectly. The intuition is at work and surprises the rational mind. Sometimes the painting overtakes your will and dictates colors, forms or nuances which were never thought of....

Lelia Demello - I have enjoyed the creative process since early childhood. My professional career started in the late 80's in the beautiful Islands of Hawaii. Since that time, over 550 original pieces have been acquired by collecors from around the world. I have had over 11 solo shows and participated in numerous museum exhibitions. I have been commissioned to paint over 65 paintings for private and coorporate clients. I am self taught and continue to learn with each new painting....

Janice Young - I work in multiple mediums. When I get an idea, I think, how can I express this visually. Sometimes the medium is the inspiration. I reuse materials from demolition, use leftovers from construction, gather raw materials from nature, and experiment with commercially produced materials. I have a drive to create. I would like what I create to provoke thought as to the beauty and importance of all life and the effect our massive appetites have on that life. ...

Michael Easton - My nature photography reflects a personal vision of the spirituality of the land. Photographing nature primarily in British Columbia is a way of life that translates the passion for this land into a shared experience of imagery through the medium of the fine print. The challenge when finding an image in nature that is of particularly interest is to pare down the extraneous bits to the essential elements that is the essence of the emotional/spiritual experience. The textural and design elements of the image are the key to the mind's appreciation of the congruency of nature within an apparent chaotic framework. Black and white aids the mind in this process without the distraction of other colours. My motivation in showing this work is to help people develop a stronger bond with nature and by extension a greater interest and concern for preserving the many unique ecosystems of the world....

Isabelle Dupuy - www.isabelledupuy.com As a landscape artist, I'm captured by what I see in nature. I create my artwork with colors just brighter than reality. My goal is to beautify the lives of others through my work. Painting with vibrant and warm colors is what gives my art an uplifting feeling of joy and peace. My inspiration comes from home, the Provence, whom I miss the colors, the scents, the lights, the warmth. Each painting I create is a reflection of where I long to be. This world has beautiful places and there is nothing more I want than bringing it to light for the enjoyment of others. In essence, my work should brighten your spirit by bringing warmth and beauty of the reds, yellows, blues and greens of the nature around us. ...

Bernd Wachtmeister - Bernd Wachtmeister is one of those people who devote a great deal of time to analysing themselves in the context of their surroundings. Many of his feelings, impressions and thoughts find expression in his artistic work. They come to light, so to speak, through form and colour. For Wachtmeister, creating art is a statement of passion as well as purpose. It might not be immediately apparent when looking at his pictures that they have involved a high degree of effort on my part. It might also be possible that, at first sight, they seem somewhat immature, light-hearted, maybe even playfully naive. However, when reflecting on their meaning as expressed in their titles it will become evident that there is an ironic, critical depth to works that, on the face of it, may appear to be straightforward and friendly. While art is for Wachtmeister both a calling and a passion, he devotes himself professionally to visual communication. Since 1990, he has worked successfully as a freelance graphic designer, mainly in the areas of advertising/promotion, publishing and new media. Wachtmeister's special interest is the illustration as well as the design of signets (CI), posters, websites, packaging, brochures and ...

Ron Roland - My trees are larger than life, and dwarf the dwellings underneath. The trees are unnatural, synthetic - more like sculptured topiaries than wild things. I work with acrylics wet-on-wet & do not use a medium to obtain the heavy texture, but rely solely on the paint, building up the texture & blending at the same time. I choose colors that challenge the human eye and sometimes make it dance around in its socket. A work of art does not begin and end with the artist alone so I want my paintings to evoke participation. I want the viewer to be plunged into the scene by the simple act of viewing. Specifically my goal is to jolt the viewer into serenity. ...
