  • Artists Describing Their Art:

John Gamache - If I come across something of interest that will be a focal point for me to build on, that excites my passion for elements of the pastaEUR"old, cast-off objects,aEUR"run down barns, old junk cars, and abandoned houses. These are the objects I collect and infuse with new life through my paintings. When I create such a piece, I wish to convey the emotions I feel for the scene or objects to the viewer. I want the viewer to be an active participant in my joy, melancholy, humor, nostalgia. Through my textures, layers, earth-tones, and choice of images, I strive to convey these feelings. To me, the process of creating a work is transcendental I am completely lost in the making, I am part of each piece. It does take time to finish each painting as I work on several at once. Each painting is a slow build up of many layers to reach the final detailing. My goal is to create and master my craft, not just in the painting but in the feelings Ive described previously to the viewer. To elicit emotion will make the piece and my goal complete as a work of art. ...

    C. A. Hoffman - For me, my artwork is very personal. It reflects a lot about how I am feeling at any given time and place. I feel that art has to be on this personal level to completely capture how the artist is feeling daily, or trying to convey a certain thought or emotion at that particular moment. We all, at one time or another try to express our thoughts or ideas, whether it is to others or just to ourselves, by words, actions, ideas or pictures. If we are sucessful in this attempt, I think it shows through in our everyday work or art. I believe that one is either born to create art naturally or by learning. For me, I feel that I was born with this wonderful gift, and I try to improve upon it every day. In my photos and art, I hope to show how everyday objects and nature can capture our imaginations and feelings. Sometimes I work with an image to improve it, inhance it, or just to fuel the imagination. I truly hope this shows in all of my art. ...

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style. Rickie Dickerson - I work from the core, I smear my guts on the canvas, all the pain and confusion...joy, lust and anger...right before your very eyes. I have to paint, I have no choice. My mentor, Luise "Mignon" Andersen, introduced me to acrylic paint and threw me deeper into the river of creativity. Everything I do is just to keep me from drowning... As for the photography, that's compulsive as well....

Lucille Rella - Color, I can't imagine life without it. We are surrounded by it. Our attention is drawn to it and it creates a variety of moods in our environment. It motivates me to paint. A spectrum of lights and darks, high colors and muted tones get me involved in a painting. The wonderful transparency and spontaneity of the watercolor medium, helps me to utilize these qualities in expressing my art work. ...

Avril Ward - Artist's statement. Creating has become an intricately woven part of my life. I must express nature, as it is my window to God. I must delight in the human body, a marvel that never ceases to amaze. I must express love and joy-this keeps them tangible in my life. I must trust my instincts and skills allowing them to lead me in the right direction. Most importantly: if my art can move a person to pause, think, smile, ponder, cry, laugh, be encouraged or give them hope, then I have served my purpose in life." Vincenzo Montella - Vincenzo Montella was born in Benevento, Italy the 7/14/1952 and lives in Naples where works as psychiatrist. He is graduated in Medicine and Philosophy and specialist in psychiatry and family psychotherapy. He is artist, poet and photographer. He studied photography at the Toscana Photographic Workshops attending courses of William Allard, Michael Yamashita, Machiel Botman, Alex Webb, Jeff Jacobson, Arkady Llove, Sarah Moon, Carol Dragon. ...

Austen Pinkerton - Artists Statement Austen Pinkerton If I turn my mind to it very quickly I can come up with several ideas for works aEUR|paintings, drawings, or sculptures. Sometimes ideas come to me when I least expect it, or when my mind is on other things. Ideas can be related to my current experiences, or to my feelings about things that are happening to me in my life at that particular time. Alternatively they can be related to a current interest, or something that occupies my attention at that moment, and my ideas and feelings about which Id like to share with others. A lot of my work is autobiographicalaEUR|either directly or indirectly, consciously or subconsciously. It is frequently very personal, and expresses events or circumstances or experiences in my life. I usually work in either Acrylic on Canvas, Crayon or Pastel, or both together, with Gouache, on card, Drawing in pencil, or Ink, or both, or with creating SculptureaEUR|for which I use fired artists clay. Sculpture follows a completely different set of rules and values from two-dimensional art, obviously, I think of it as Drawing in three dimensions and I take this into account when creating mine. In...

Monica Malbeck - I was born and raised in Romania, attending art school there. I graduated in 1974 from a highly successful art pilot program at age 18. Where I was offered exposure to all facets of art from visual communications to industrial design. This was followed by a successful career in fashion design with clients throughout Europe, U.S., and Japan. In 1990 I moved to the United States, and in 1996 I was introduced to digital media falling in love instantly with its versatility. I have been exploring digital design since then, trying to mix digital color and the illusions of texture and shape to capture fleeting, momentary thoughts and my feelings. My style varies depending on the subject being captured, as I always try to let the subject dictate the style rather than try to impose a repetitive style format. I have retired to Hawaii very early from a career as a fashion consultant, and decided to focus on art. My very first submission of my artwork to an international competition in Italy, was chosen among the finalists. I am a self-taught digital artist, and I like to explore a broad range of subjects. In my gallery you will...

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my art and acts as a vital element in my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as from the images I find from my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, and museums. Upon locating a documented scene I wish to etch, my first step involves the execution of two to five original drawings of the photograph. My collaboration between photography and printmaking allows me the independence to integrate my personal interpretations into the scene. Moreover, I create bridges between the physical and metaphysical visual realities in the same way that a camera intersects with human creativity . . . the nexus between the mechanical and the cerebral art tools. Art unveils everything that we mask behind our belief systems conversely, I strive in my creations to clarify those phenomena we overlook as a result of our egocentric assumptions. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice things, a process I label, the phenomenology of connectedness, on todayaEURtms very infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies of social media. My artworks therefore become like windows through which to examine the mysteries of aEURoeeveryday consciousnessaEUR. In fact, my use of ...

Teri Ockey - Since I was a child, art has always been a very integral part of my life. My work today derives from a deep appreciation of the beauty of the human form, which began early in my artistic development and continues to be a very powerful creative force. I embrace trying new art forms, styles and techniques, and my artwork is ever evolving. Art Photography, as a means of expression, enables me to create association and unity from distinction and variety. Today as an artist, I use the beauty of the human form as my subject matter, and the soul of humankind as my inspiration. I use selective lighting, deep shadows, and mood-setting colors, combined with the graphical nature of form, or the graceful expression of curve, to create a sensual, aesthetic experience. Whether you participate as a subject in one of my model-oriented custom art designs, you are a collector of art, or you are simply an observer, I invite you, the viewer, to experience a different kind of intimacy your sense of 'self'. We are all connected in this soulful microcosm of life through art. terio...
